Cappy old Pal cumulative inflation is up 18% since Biden took over, year over year we have had 3 prints in a row showing it is going up again and is currently at 3.1 % much higher than the Feds target rate of 2%.
Powell just said the fight on inflation is not assured, so doesn’t appear anywhere in the data or by what the Fed is saying that Interest rates will come down before the election.

Looks to me that people are losing their jobs and inflation is going higher as are interest rates. Again what’s he got to run on?

Tend to stay away from ticktock and the like for the sake of my sanity, Cheezey. But I’m sure it is also treated as a reference by the blue-rinse gollums of the shires in their pursuit of the mong vote. They’ll howl down any sensible foreign policy responding to real threats while demanding absolute loyalty on idiocy like Brexit or Rwanda. So good they got a proper Mullery in the locals just now - they are a pathetic laughing stock as individuals and a menace to themselves collectively.

The proxy war thing is another known Kremlin trope designed to present Russia as the brave victim of an aggressive, conniving West. So if a country supplies weapons but insists they are not on Russian infrastructure inside Russian territory, this is seized on as evidence that Ukraine is a mere unwilling tool and proxy.
It’s the usual Socialist Worker level crap peddled by brainwashed shouty Nigels.

I often see the point made that this is a proxy war. I'm not entirely sure what point is being made. Is this a suggestion that the Ukrainians are somehow being forced to keep fighting when they would prefer to make peace with Putin? Or is it, as I believe, just pro-Russian shills expressing their bitterness that the war is being turned against them?

Sending NATO troops to Ukraine would be a dangerous escalation, this is not necessary - British Foreign Secretary Cameron.
David Cameron also said that he leaves it to Kiev to decide how to use British weapons. after being quoted "ukraine has the right to strike inside russia"
Yet people claim this isn’t a proxy war.

Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Head of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, has said that he sees no way for Ukraine to win the war on the battlefield alone. He believes that such wars can only end in treaties.

Details: Skibitskyi noted that even if Ukraine managed to push Russian troops back to the borders, which is an increasingly remote prospect, it would not end the war.
Skibitskyi noted that both sides are currently trying to take the "most favourable position" before potential negotiations. But he also stressed that meaningful negotiations may not begin until the second half of 2025.
By then, Russia will face serious "headwinds." Russia's military production capacity has grown, but will plateau in early 2026 due to a lack of materials and engineers.
Both Ukraine and Russia may eventually face a shortage of weapons. But if nothing else changes, Ukraine will run out of weapons first.
Skibitskyi said the biggest uncertain factor in the war was Europe. If Ukraine's neighbours do not find a way to further increase their defence production to help Ukraine, they too will eventually be targeted by Russia.
He downplayed the importance of Article 5, which deals with NATO's collective defence and even the presence of NATO troops in countries bordering Ukraine. This article, in his view, may prove to be of little practical significance.

More details: He also noted that Ukraine's bravery and sacrifice have given Europe a multi-year head start, eliminating the immediate threat of the once-fearsome Russian airborne forces and marines for at least a decade.
Now, as Skibitskyi stressed, the question is whether Europe will reciprocate by allowing Ukraine to stay in the game: "We have no choice. We want to live. But the outcome of the war [...] isn’t just down to us."
